All the accounts contained in the New Testament, as also those which were known to St. Justin Martyr and St. Irenæus, concur in representing our Lord as having used the words “This is My body”. It is probable that He spoke in Aramaic; but, unless we are to ignore every principle of sound criticism, it must be supposed that the Greek words which all our authorities give accurately represent what He said.
